The first parameter is achieved by using cold-resistant materials for producing frame/casement profiles (vinyl / fiberglass / wood). High energy-efficient European aluminum windows and doors are equipped with a warm polyamide thermal bridge inside the aluminum frame, to cut the system’s freezing.
Triple-pane glazing with transparent E-coating glass cover and Argon gas inside is also an example of enhancing the thermal resistance of the glass. All these parameters are typical for European windows and some North American ones as well. But warm materials of the window will not make your window high energy / sound / water insulated.
European vinyl windows and doors ALEX VEKA (uPVC) are equipped with thick (1.6 – 2,0 mm) square steel reinforcement inside. These steel tubes are located in the central insulated chamber inside the frame / casement profile, making them stable during any weather conditions and temperatures. Any material except water, is shrinking during cold temperatures and expands while heating in summer.
Because of these changes in size, a window made of any type of plastic (vinyl, fiberglass, etc) is losing its original form, without stable steel reinforcement. This fact causes gaps between the frame and casement, being the main reason, why the North American windows can’t provide high thermal insulation, water and soundproofing.
To prevent the deformation of the frame, European aluminum windows and doors Aluprof, Schuco, and Reynaers are made with wide, flexible thermal bridges inside and multiple levels of rubber barriers. The polyamide thermal bridges keep the frame stable during any environmental temperature, smoothing the difference in sizes between the exterior aluminum part of the frame and the interior one.
European windows will keep being insulated and working properly, only if they are installed under a certain installation procedure. These installation requirements are totally different, compared with the module installation of lightweight Canadian windows. European windows and doors are heavy and designed according to the individual forms and preferences of the customer. Each window is a separate individual project, which requires a deep understanding of physical processes, such as wind pressure, solar heating, high and low temperatures, high humidity and thunderstorms, which will affect the window’s insulation in the future.
The window installers who used to work with Canadian module windows usually don’t know the procedure of direct screwing the frame to the wall structure with different steps, according to the dividers and fitting elements’ location. The installation of European windows and doors has to be made with thermal insulation provided by expanding foam, covered by exterior and interior tapes. While interior tape protects the foam from rainwater, the interior tape is designed to evaporate high humidity from the house air. The fittings of European tilt-turn windows, entrance doors, and lift-and-slide doors, are very durable and reliable, however, they are very sophisticated in adjustment and require certain experience and skills. The frames connectors and additional profiles have to be assembled and fixed to the floor in a certain way.

European windows provide world’s leading parameters of sound, thermal, water insulation, panoramic view, physical, and burglary resistance
We are proud in providing Canadian customers in the Greater Toronto Area with highly energy-efficient European glass products that outperform most options available on the market. Our products are superior in terms of insulation, protection, energy efficiency, premium panoramic design, and ease of use.
In my opinion, many Canadian homeowners are accustomed to old-style windows without insulation because they haven’t experienced anything better. Some people believe that installing triple-pane glazing is all that’s needed to make a window energy efficient, but that’s not the case. Also, Energy insulation refers to a window or door’s ability to maintain stability during changes in outside temperature. This is achieved by using heavy and stable frame and vent profile systems.
Some people believe that energy insulation is only about reducing heating bills. While this is the main benefit of European windows, it’s not the only one. High-quality, energy-insulated windows and doors can also provide a comfortable living environment for all your family members. During the worst winter storms, your children can sit on the floor without feeling cold air blowing in, and there will be no noise from the windows or doors. Additionally, there won’t be any water leaking from the bottom of the door, and you won’t have to worry about water condensation on the inside of the windows.
